Review: Hamilton Gardens Cafe
This is the third time that I went to the Hamilton Gardens Cafe and this time I was lucky. Lucky only because the cafe was actually open. The two previous times it was near closing time as I didn't know their hours and when I did make sure that it was within the hours, there was a private function going on. The Hamilton Gardens won the 2014 International Gardens Award which they rightfully deserve and whenever I have time, I will try to take a walk around the gardens. Hamiltons Gardens Cafe is situated right next to the lake with a view of the little waterfall. Inside they have beautiful floral and fancy wallpaper (you will be sure to see some of the nice wallpaper they had, which I had used for my #ootd) as well green and orangy red dining chairs. There were many people seated enjoying their lunch and this is always a good sign as to me, it shows that the cafe must be good.
There were a lot to choose from the cabinet as well as their menu but unfortunately the meat and chicken were not halal so I opted for a seafood option. The reason why I kept coming back and really keen to eat at Hamilton Gardens Cafe is because they use ALLPRESS Espresso which is my favourite coffee. By visiting the place, I had a sense of nostalgia, as there was an ALLPRESS Cafe near my hall (where they roasted the beans, so when you came in, you smell a big waft of coffee) when I was at Otago University, which I had loved to visit. Nonetheless, for brunch, I ordered a salmon and capers toasted bagel with cream cheese as well as a mochaccino and shared some wedges as well.
The salmon was too salty on its own, but when it was paired with the capers, greens, cream cheese and of course bagel, it balanced some of the saltiness and at the time I could only think of the 'Broccoli' song by D.R.A.M. LOL. They also gave us a decently big serving of wedges. However, most importantly, the coffee did not disappoint me.
I will definitely be back for an ALLPRESS Espresso and as the saying goes: "Life is too short for bad coffee."
